Caleb Barlow integration EWxecutive Net Integrations Technologies, Foundations, Lotus foundations integrated office
Showing the unit, cartridge based. Very cool

Demoing using Lotus foundations to configure the PBX and the
A slick UI that integrates smoothly to set up users.  Slick live demo integrating the software and phone system associating a phone to an individual and turning a phone number live, all happening with a simple few clicks of the software. Increadabley simple solutions for small business, no IT expertise needed, really.

Big news is a new player in the Foundations family: Mitel delivering a IP PBX solution on board.

Working with Xerox, with the Xerox Office Now solution, scan a docuent on copier, pick a name from his address book on copier, sends doc, shows up in his sent folder,

Integrating Lotus live, they connected the multifunction printer to the cloud, now, from the desktop, they can go to the device where they scanned the doc (may be in a copy store 3 miles away)  pull up the document they scanned and print it.

More robust. Lotus Foundations cartridge lets you

Takes the hard drive out of the appliance. Foundations is still working, Phones still work

Alistair, “Go home and rip out a running Windows Server Drive ands see what happens”

Alistair, Kevin Cavanaugh, Sean Poulley.

Funny: Problem with the AV and Sean Poulley fixes it.

Kevin on Mobile (see our announcement articles to be posted soon):
44 counties downloaded the encryption app for iPhone since the announcement on Monday

Expanding on the announcements from earlier in the week: Android, Symbian, Lotus Notes Traveler Companion,

Q: Clarify Android Support. Exactly which versions of Android
Both 2.0 and 2.1. Nexus One Droid is out there and we’ll move that along as well. We’ll pick from the range of devices and . Looking forward rather than 1.6 waiting for 2.0

In device applications are not rich enough, we’ll make them richer and replace with our own.

Alistair on Web Meetings. Rich set of Web APIs inside Sametime enables collaborative business.

Alistair on Social Software Momentum
Connections Next Compliance and discovery around social data and seeing a shift in business looking at Soc soft as messaging. Mobile is crucial to social software experiences. Social Analytics. Will make it so businesses recognize the value of social software and speed the adoption.

Question: With the increased integration of Quickr and  How will you go forward with those products

Alistair. “It’s all about the customer” discusses Quickr features as a stand alone and ways that it can be packages to make sense for the customer.

Q: Alfresco announcement why did you pick that and where do you see that going?
Alistair: we have a dividable ecosystem but the portfolio is important. We’ve been excited for a while about a true CMIS system We were impressed with Alfresco’s dedication to the same level of commitment to standards. The ability to integrate Alfrecso into Quciker through a standards based interfcase was important.

Q: Will we be seeing incremental upgrades to products lines as standard or will there be an explosion?
Alistair; What you’re seeing now is a high value set of features added to the solutions based on customer needs right now. Customers don’t want a 4 year cycle of upgrades, they want incremental upgrades frequently.
Sean Poulley discussing the upgradability of the software on Cloud (read LotusLive). “I think the next big thing is lots of small things.”  Alistair: it’s agility.

Q: Mobile apps connections & Qucikr on the mobile announcements
Kevin: delivery will happen different ways with different devices.

Q: LotusLive Labs  & Project Vulcan not being a product how are you measuring success
Sean: “By the feedback we get in the lab” “A lot of the things we’ve announced came out of collaboration with Reaseach.” “If we get feedback fast enough it’ll help us figure out what we need to prioritize? Alistair:

Q: My current impression is that Project Vulcan is a way to make things work together that don’t yet work together very well, what’s your view?
Alistair: With this announcement they’re clearly trying to show how they think people will collab in the future. They think evolution will be based on what people have today so continuity is critical, technology and services (CMS, ERP, Analytics, all drive value and need a path into the collaborative scene). They stepped back and looked at convergence. People need to work in a less siloed manner. Paraphrasing Alistair: ‘If there is data you need in a specific application (CMS) you shouldn’t need to go through that app to get the data, you should be able to pull it in up and work on it with others in an collaborative environment. Basically Project Vulcan will be a way to that type of process. Analytics  start to provide a real basis for figuring out what’s relevant to you and use that as a way to deliver pertinent content and allow you to take action on it. And that’s one of the most significant points of Vulcan. It has a potential to transform how people work.’

Q: on social analytics: how will reputation management fit into the analytics process?
Paraphrasing Alistair: ‘Is Joe a 5 star or 1 star guy is too blunt. The question is, what’s the quality of the content? Example: I ran into a situation while on the where at 4:00 in the morning I needed help to solve a customer issues. Everyone internally I needed for  help was asleep. I got on connections and looked at who I could tap into here and was able to more easily identify who I could ask about the situation.

Q: What if I don’t want you knowing what I’m interested in. How do you apply this?
Alistair “we already with tools like Atlas, give people some control over how much you want to participate.” (this is a pretty standard practice in social software environments). “Also Admins will have a role in enforcing company policy and privacy rules. The beauty is that Connections is giving us a lot of experience and understanding of this.”

That wrapped up the press event. While this was basically just reiterating the same announcements from earlier in the week, this discussion allowed some more in depth examination of the announcements.

Look for more articles coming out later today.
